Just an hour from Paris, the charming medieval town of Ferrières-en-Gâtinais
Offering peace and quiet, leisure activities and an unspoilt environment
The former religious capital of the Gâtinais region, Ferrières owes its birth and its name to the iron ore found in the Cléry valley. For over a thousand years, saints, popes and kings have stayed in this peaceful little town on the banks of the river.
The town grew up around its majestic Benedictine abbey of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul. Although Clovis is credited with building the first basilica, it was King Dagobert who saw the monastery flourish in the early 7th century.
So it's a town steeped in history that we invite you to visit from our hotel. A picturesque town to discover as you wander through its narrow streets, revealing many traces of its medieval past.
Don't hesitate to ask us, we'll be delighted to advise you on the activities and discoveries to be made around the Hôtel de l'Abbaye.
